New Zealand
LAND OF THE LONG WHITE CLOUD
New Zealand; to most it’s the land of soaring peaks, pristine coast, the All-Blacks…
For us; it’s the land of family, friends & unbridled generosity.
We both visited New Zealand independently in 2007 and 2010. Returning together has been an opportunity to properly compare notes & memories, to seek more to explore. We are incredibly fortunate to have both relatives & good friends who live in the North Island, meaning several weeks of home-comforts, re-connecting with much-missed family, and seeing this endlessly beautiful part of the world with local eyes.
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is New Zealand’s best single day hike. From scaling volcanic craters, to racing through a lahar zone, this 19.1km trek afforded us some the most arresting scenery in the whole of the North Island. A complete guide on everything you need to know if you’re looking to find the same.
